Adam Drobniak

  • Habilitated Doctor, University Professor. Affiliated with the University of Economics in Katowice, Faculty of Spatial Economy and Region Transformation (GPiTR).
  • He serves as Dean of the Faculty of Spatial Economy and Region Transformation at the University of Economics in Katowice, where he conducts research and teaching in the areas of regional transformation, spatial economy, and development policies.
  • He is a recognized expert in the field of just transition of post-coal regions, actively involved in both research and practical transformation processes in Polish mining regions.
  • In 2021, he headed the Institute for Ecology of Industrial Areas, where he was responsible, among other tasks, for the preparation of the National Just Transition Plan and for consultations on Territorial Just Transition Plans.
  • He is a member of the Working Group on the Future of Just Transition in Europe (DG REGIO), the National Council for Just Transition, the Regional Council for Just Transition of the Silesian Voivodeship, as well as the Scientific Council of the Central Mining Institute – National Research Institute.
  • He participates in European research and implementation projects funded under the Horizon Europe programme (including HORIZON-DUST and HORIZON-BOLSTER), focusing on participatory and social aspects of sustainable transformation.
