Swedish Radiation Safety Authority (SSM)


  • Master of Science in Engineering Physics. He earned his degree from the Royal Institute of Technology in 1983.
  • He is the Director General at SSM, the Swedish Radiation Safety Authority.
  • At SSM, he is responsible for a wide range of activities related to all aspects of radiation safety, including nuclear safety, radiation protection, security, and nuclear non-proliferation.
  • He joined SSM in 2014 and previously held positions as Director for Nuclear Power Plant Safety and Director for Regulation and Knowledge Development.
  • He has over 40 years of experience in nuclear safety, gained both on the industry side and as a regulator.
  • He began his career at ASEA-Atom, the Swedish reactor vendor (now Westinghouse Electric Sweden AB), during the commissioning of the latest Swedish Generation III reactors – Forsmark 3 and Oskarshamn 3.
  • Before joining SSM, he worked for several years at Lloyd’s Register Consulting (LRC), holding various positions, including CEO of LRC Sweden and R&D Director at the group level.
