She is the Chair of the Committee of Inquiry on Licensing of Nuclear Power in Sweden.
The committee analyzes and reports on matters related to new nuclear projects, in accordance with government guidelines, ensuring the participation of new entities.
It also examines the potential for introducing innovative technologies, such as Small Modular Reactors (SMRs) and Advanced Modular Reactors (AMRs), other than Light Water Reactors (LWRs).
So far, the committee has published two reports – the first focused on improving the efficiency of the nuclear power reactor licensing process, and the second on the management of radioactive waste from new nuclear projects.
The third and final report, to be published in June 2026, will cover issues related to regulations on emergency planning zones and nuclear liability.
Prior to her current role, Pernilla worked for 20 years in the field of nuclear law, serving, among other positions, as Chief Legal Officer and Head of Legal Affairs at the Swedish Radiation Safety Authority.
